Empowering Abiriba: Launching Our First Skills Acquisition Program
We are thrilled to announce a landmark initiative in our commitment to community empowerment! In partnership with the Abiriba Women Cultural Organization (AWCO), The Bloom Health Foundation, Nigeria (an arm of The Bloom Foundation, USA) has successfully launched its first-ever Skills Acquisition Program for the residents of Abiriba.
This program is designed to provide practical, hands-on vocational training, equipping indigenes with the skills needed to build sustainable livelihoods and achieve economic independence. We believe that empowering individuals with tangible skills is a powerful pathway to fostering dignity and respect.
The program offers training in a wide range of high-demand fields:
Hair Dressing & Braiding
Make-up Artistry
Vulcanizing
Baking & Catering
Barbing
Computer Training
Event Planning
Pedicure & Manicure
The application process saw an incredible turnout, with a lot of enthusiastic community members visiting the AWCO Facility from June 16th to 18th to pick up their forms. The energy and hope were palpable, and we are excited to share some moments from the selection process in the video and photos below.
The selected candidates will now embark on up to six months of intensive training, gaining the expertise to launch their own businesses or secure skilled employment.
This program is a true embodiment of our mission to ensure the health of the whole person by addressing key social determinants of health, like economic opportunity. We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners at AWCO and the entire Abiriba community for their unwavering support.
